Focus - The Gateway to Success....

Let’s first start with what focus is. Simply put, focus involves the ability to pay attention to things that will help and avoid distractions that will hurt your efforts.

Being focused means that you have clear goals and objectives and are dedicated to achieving those goals and objectives.

Most of us would agree that there are a lot of benefits to being focused it improves clarity, helps us identify what is most important, improves decision making and allows us to be more effective.  

Let's explore a little more the benefits of being focused:

You Are Quicker
When you focus on a single task avoiding distractions, your brain becomes focused on that task alone.  This lets you complete that task much more quickly than if you are trying to complete two or more tasks at once.

You Produce Higher Quality
By giving your all attention to the task without distraction, you get it done much more quickly and with fewer mistakes, therefore your work will be of a higher quality.

Reduces stress
When we lack focus we can become overwhelmed - too much to do and too little time. 

More often than not, it not so much that there is too much it is more that we don’t know where to start and it is this that is stressful. 

As you increase clarity and understand what’s most important, this allows you to get out of feeling overwhelmed which has a positive impact on your stress levels.  You can see what you need to do and you can also see that you are making progress.  When you have the wrong focus all your efforts lead to nothing which can cause frustration, de-motivation and consequently stress.

Avoids Procrastination
Being focused helps to avoid procrastination.  Procrastination is one of the major hindrances to life.  Being focused on the task at hand helps to do it at the right time and achieve satisfaction out of it.

If you can take control of your ability to focus and block out distractions, you have given yourself a powerful tool that will enable you to perform at consistently high level and be both effective and efficient in your efforts.
